KSA100 Explained:

KSA100 is a regulatory requirement introduced by the UK CAA to ensure pilot training goes beyond academic knowledge, integrating the essential non-technical skills that modern airline pilots rely on daily. At Resilient Pilot, our KSA100 programme is fully embedded within the ATPL(A) theory syllabus, using real-time airline scenarios to help you think, act, and behave like a professional pilot from day one.

KSA100 stands for Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes, and it focuses on developing five core global pilot competencies:

  • Communication (COM) – Clear, concise, and effective exchange of information, both verbal and non-verbal.
  • Leadership and Teamwork (LTW) – Managing cockpit dynamics, contributing to a safe and efficient flight deck culture.
  • Workload Management (WLM) – Prioritising tasks under pressure, balancing manual flying, monitoring, and system management.
  • Problem Solving and Decision Making (PSD) – Evaluating complex or unexpected situations and choosing the safest course of action.
  • Situational Awareness (SAW) – Maintaining an accurate mental model of the aircraft’s position, environment, and trajectory.

Alongside these, we place a strong emphasis on Resilience – the ability to recognise stressors, adapt under pressure, and recover quickly – and Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT) to prepare you for unexpected flight situations. Through our integrated virtual Scenario-Based Training (vSBT) and the Resilience Deck app, you’ll develop these competencies in parallel with your theoretical studies, building the mindset and behavioural habits of a safe and competent airline pilot.
